Product Description

Worth knowing: The small succulent plants actually only consist of two thick, ramified leaves that accumulate moisture in copious amounts. At the end of summer spring from the center - depending on the variety - yellow, white, bright red or purple coloured flowers. Every year, a new leaf pair springs and grows out of the old one. The attractive bloomer only needs a small space on your windowsill, and it makes a neat colour arrangement in the smallest spaces possible. Natural Location: The Flowering Stones are native in southern Africa, where they grow mainly in areas with wintery precipitation and summery dryness. Cultivation: Seed propagation indoors is possible throughout the year. Spread the seeds onto finely sieved potting compost or cactus earth that contains about 25% sand and is moistened with a water vaporizer. For a light germinator you don’t need to put any potting earth on top. Cover the seed container with clear film to prevent the earth from drying out, but don’t forget to make some holes in the clear film and take it every second or third day completely off for about 2 hours. That way you avoid mold formation on your potting compost. Place the seed container somewhere bright and warm with a temperature between 20°C and 25°Celsius and keep the earth – preferably with a water sprayer – moist, but not wet. The first seedlings will come up after one or two weeks. Place: Flowering Stones prefer a bright and warm place, for instance at a window to the South. Care: The care of the Conophytum should go accordingly to the growth process. During the resting period in summer, you should water only sparsely and not more than once a week, while with beginning of the growth period in autumn, stronger watering is necessary - but avoid waterlogging, for instance in the saucer. From autumn until beginning of spring you may also give fluid fertilizer for cactus plants once a month. During the winter: During winter the Flowering Stones should be kept in a bright and warm place, but not in the full sun. Picture credits: - © ©1.+2.+5.Jean-Jacques MILAN 3.Peter A. Mansfeld 4.H.
